BALLET PHILIPPINES “MASTERPIECES”PERFORMANCE WOWS BAHRAIN
The Cultural Diplomacy Unit of the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) has partnered with the Ballet Philippines(BP) for a performance tour in the Middle East from August 07 to 14. Widely recognized as the country’s flagship company in ballet and contemporary dance, Ballet Philippines (BP) will showcase its artistry to the cities of Abu Dhabi, Amman, Doha, Dubai and Manama. The Manama leg was held on 11 August2015 at the majestic Bahrain National Theater (State Theater).BP’s repertoire entitled, Master Pieces: Celebrating a Tapestry of Filipino and Friendship, is an assortment of classical ballets, neo-classical works, and modern and contemporary dance pieces, offering its collection of acclaimed works created and performed throughout its 46-year history. Master Pieces gave the Bahrain and community a memorable evening of cultural experience. The performance was also made possible through the cooperation of the Philippine Embassy and the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities led by Ambassador Alfonso A. Ver and Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al Khalifa, respectively. Apre-performance cocktail reception was likewise held together with the event which saw the attendance of the members from the different sectors of Bahrain society ranging from the government, business, media, art, academe, diplomatic and other social circles and of course the Filipino community.
