THE PHILIPPINE EMBASSY, BAHRAIN
The Philippines and the State of Bahrain established diplomatic relations in the early 1980′s with the Philippine Ambassador to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia accredited as non-resident Ambassador to the State of Bahrain. On 14 April 1992, due to the growing number of overseas Filipino workers, the Embassy of the Philippines in Bahrain was formally established with Ambassador Leonides T. Caday as the first resident Ambassador. Ambassador Caday with about ten (10) officers and staff from the DFA, Manila, successfully opened the Philippine Embassy in Bahrain providing consular services, assistance to Filipino nationals and started his diplomatic functions with the host government and the diplomatic corps. On 03 June 1994, when Ambassador Caday left for the Republic of Korea to open an Embassy in that country, H.E. Ambassador Akmad A. Sakkam replaced him as the Philippine Ambassador on 13 July 1994. After nearly five years of tour of duty, Ambassador Sakkam left Bahrain on 16 March 1999, to take up his new post as Philippine Ambassador to the Sultanate of Oman.
On 27 May 1999, H.E. Rodolfo I. Dumapias arrived and presented his Letter of Credence to His Highness The Amir, Sheikh Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and assumed post as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary (AEP) to the State of Bahrain (now Kingdom of Bahrain) on 16 June 1999.
First Secretary and Consul Maria Leticia C. Ramos took over as Charge d’ Affaires, a. i. when Ambassador Dumapias was recalled to the Home Office on 19 June 2002.
On 31 March 2003, H.E. Eduardo Pablo M. Maglaya arrived and presented his Letter of Credence and assumed as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Kingdom of Bahrain on 06 May 2003.
On 27 July 2009, Ambassador-Designate MA. CORAZON YAP-BAHJIN arrived and assumed Post immediately. She presented her Letter of Credence to His Highness King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa on 20 October 2009.
On May 07 2013, H.E. Ambassador SAHID S. GLANG presented his Letter of Credence to His Highness King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and assumed as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Kingdom of Bahrain.
On 24 May 2015, Ambassador-Designate ALFONSO FERDINAND A. VER arrived and assumed Post immediately. He presented his Letter of Credence to His Highness King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa on 29 June 2015 and assumed as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Kingdom of Bahrain.
On 19 April 2022, H.E. Anne Jalando-on Louis, Charge d’ Affaires, a. i., arrived and assumed Post immediately.
