PHILIPPINE EMBASSY AND THE KNIGHTS OF RIZAL IN BAHRAIN COMMEMORATE

THE 119TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE MARTYRDOM OF DR. JOSE RIZAL

Officers and staff of the Philippine Embassy led by H.E. Alfonso A. Ver, Philippine Ambassador to the Kingdom of Bahrain, and the Order of the Knights of Rizal- Bahrain Chapter held the flag-raising and wreath-laying ceremonies in commemoration of the 119th Anniversary of the Martyrdom of Dr. Jose P. Rizal.

Manama, 30 December 2015 – The Philippine Embassy in the Kingdom of Bahrain, led by H.E. Alfonso A. Ver, in cooperation with the Order of the Knights of Rizal (OKOR) – Bahrain Chapter, held a flag-raising ceremony and a wreath-laying ceremony at the Embassy grounds to commemorate the 119th Anniversary of the Martyrdom of Dr. Jose P. Rizal.

The short program included a brief recitation by Dr. Elpidio Quitevis of OKOR of the important events in the life of Dr. Rizal as well as an oratorical piece entitled “Global Infectious Disease” delivered by Ms. Eula Marie Carrera, a student of the Philippine School Bahrain.

Philippine Embassy officials and officers and members of the Order of the Knights of Rizal

led the wreath laying ceremony to honor Dr. Rizal.

Ambassador Ver also shared with the Filipinos who joined the celebration a first-hand account of the events that unfolded during Dr. Rizal’s day of execution and he also reiterated the message of H. E. President Benigno S. Aquino III for all Filipinos, encouraging each one to be heroes in their own way.  The Philippine School Bahrain’s Banyuhay Vocals also rendered a special song number to end the commemoration.(END)
